We disappear into your day, so you can be fully in it.

Amber & Oak is a documentary-style wedding photography studio in Kansas City. We spend your day quietly capturing the real moments as they happen — the nervous laugh before the ceremony, the way golden light catches the room at your reception — instead of pulling you away for two hours of posed portraits. Sneak peeks land in your inbox within 72 hours.

Included in The Full Day & The Weekend

Your engagement session comes first.

Before your wedding day, we spend an evening together at golden hour — no forced poses, just a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera (and in front of us) before the day that matters most arrives.

What Couples Tell Us

Stories Couples Tell Us Afterward

We forgot they were even there half the time — which is exactly what we wanted. The sneak peek hit our inbox two days later and we cried at our desks at work.

Questions Couples Ask

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast will we actually see our photos?

You'll have a sneak peek of 20–30 favorites in your inbox within 48–72 hours of your wedding — we know the wait is the hardest part. Your full gallery follows in 4–6 weeks, well ahead of the 8–12 week wait that's typical in this industry.

We're awkward in front of a camera — will that show in our photos?

Almost every couple tells us this before their wedding, and almost none of them believe it about their own gallery afterward. We shoot documentary-style, which means we're following the day rather than directing it — you'll spend far more time forgetting we're there than posing for us.

Is the engagement session included, or is that extra?

It's built into The Full Day and The Weekend packages at no additional cost, and it's genuinely useful beyond the photos themselves — most couples tell us it's where they got comfortable with us before the wedding day arrived. It can be added to The Elopement for an additional session fee if you'd like one.

Do you only shoot in Kansas City, or will you travel?

We're based in Westport and shoot most weddings around the KC metro, but we happily travel for weekend and full-day weddings further out — just mention your venue when you reach out and we'll talk through what travel looks like.

How does booking actually work?

It starts with a conversation, not a contract. Send us your date and a little about your day, and we'll set up a short call to see if we're a good fit before anything is locked in — no pressure, no hard sell.
